Dive In. Help Out.
Help provide vital swimming and water safety skills and help wipe out drowning in your local community by diving in at the 2014 YMCA Swimathon.
The YMCA Swimathon is back again in 2014 for its third year on Sunday 2 March from 10am – 11am at YMCA pools across the country.
Why it matters.
The ability to enjoy water and learn to swim is an important life skill, just like reading or writing. But what if you have a disability, or come from a country where you may have never seen a pool before? Or your parents can’t afford lessons?
In 2013, 291 people drowned in Australian waters and for every drowning there were between one and two near drownings that resulted in hypoxic brain injury, leading to permanent disability
At the YMCA we aim to ensure no more lives are lost or impacted through drowning and believe everyone deserves the right to learn to swim.
